Cruise Line Offers For Wedding Couples

Marriages are made in heaven. True, but the heaven here is your favourite cruise line on which you like to get married. If you are planning to celebrate your weeding in a unique way, there are a lot of wedding packages offered as part of the cruise line offers and holidays. Wedding is a prominent occasion in the life of any individual, and an event that means get-togethers and family and friends' reunions. So the wedding onboard a cruise line should be exquisite and memorable.

The real ordeal is in making arrangements for the wedding ceremony to take place on schedule. I personally consider that, it is indeed very stressful to arrange a wedding. But, couples now have lots of options to go through the wedding process with less strain, and within lesser time-frames. One notable option is to go in for a wedding package which takes care of every part of the marriage celebration. It is for sure that, that the cruise wedding party is real fun and offers choicest memories to remember for a life time.

It is to some extent an individual's choice to either get married on board the ship or at a port. It is a matter of general rule that cruise lines offer weddings on board. Seldom, weddings could also take place at the port of your home country. Though, the cruises allow for getting married on board, as they have special provision for wedding chapels on the cruise, marriages are preferred to be held at the place where the ship is docked at its port of origin. This is done to avoid any legal hassles.

The most sensible and affordable are the wedding packages offered by Celebrity cruise lines. Weddings are usually not allowed on board Celebrity cruise line. The couple have to choose one of the designated ports of call, for their wedding ceremony. It is indeed memorable that couples can wed on land and spend their honeymoon on the cruise, partying and enjoying in the company of friends and relatives.

You can save on your expenses on board by setting up the cruise registry. This is more like a gift registry, where guests put money into the registry, instead of offering gifts or cash. The cruise will adjust this cash towards all additional expenses incurred by the couple during their stay on the cruise. Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas also provides for wedding chapel and performs cruise ship weddings on the day of embarkation. Their wedding packages include flowers for bride and groom, a photo session, champagne and a cake.

It is for sure that all ships have newlyweds game. It's a lovely experience partaking in the newlyweds' game, which is filled with fun and frolic. After a year of planning for your cruise wedding, honeymooning on a ship is a great way to kick back and relax. It is not only to have time for both of you, but also means taking advantage of your time together in a luxurious atmosphere. Wedding plans on board mean lots of fun, meeting new people, and making new friends.

The Complete Caribbean Cruises Guide

By Cindy Heller Platinum Quality Author

The Eastern Caribbean has many historic islands with endless stretches of beautiful beaches. The western Caribbean is which one can explore ancient Mayan ruins as you venture into the Yucatan peninsula. The Southern Caribbean is known for its many dive sites with coral reefs full of fishes.

Each part of the Caribbean is unique and offers exciting places for a great cruise experience.

Eastern Caribbean Cruises: Sun, sand, sea and shopping

One of the favorite destinations in the Eastern Caribbean is St Maarten. St. Maarten is known for its duty-free shopping. Christopher Columbus sighted St. Maarten in 1493. French and Dutch divided the island and settled down in 1648. They have lived side by side ever since. St. Maarten gained partial independence from the Netherlands in 1954. The Netherlands Antilles governs St. Maarten while St. Martin is part of the French West Indies. St Maarten and St Martin is the world smallest island shared between two countries. The beaches on the island are among the best in the Caribbean. Clothing is optional on some beaches.

Western Caribbean Cruises: The Ancient and Adventure

The Western Caribbean cruise vacation is interesting because you can explore a number of countries and experience a variety of cultures in the same trip. You can also pop over the Mexican coast. Some cruises include stopovers at Key West and New Orleans.

Southern Caribbean Cruises: For the Young and Adventurous.

It is little wonder that the Southern Caribbean cruises are marketed as cruises for the singles. There are many activities for the young and energetic. Just right for breaking the ice between strangers. The Southern Caribbean is known for its crystal clear waters, which are ideal for snorkeling and diving.

There are also some great shore excursion opportunities. Many of the Southern Caribbean ports are booming centers of commerce while others are still large tract of lush rain forests. Some are enclaves for the rich and famous while others look more like the Arizona desert with their towering Saguaro cacti.

The Southern Caribbean islands are further away and less accessible than the Eastern or Western Caribbean islands. If you sail from the USA, you will need to plan for a longer trip. Alternatively, if you can fly to San Juan, Puerto Rico, Aruba or Barbados and take a Southern Caribbean cruise from there. The Southern Caribbean cruises from this place starts from 4 days.

Sail the Caribbean Blue Waters Aboard a Cruise Liner

By Naveen Marasin

Are you planning for a vacation? Do you have ideas for cruising? If your answer to both the questions is in the positive, then do not think twice. Just select a Caribbean cruise as your vacation destination. Easy to reach and the charming islands make the Caribbean a place for tropical climate lovers. The diversity of cultures in the Caribbean extends to what other few destinations in the world can provide.

Almost all the sails to the Caribbean islands start from south Florida, which has many ports and can house large cruise ships. The state is also very near to the Caribbean. Some of the Caribbean cruises comprise South Florida and the Bahamas Islands because of the identical climate and similar attitude.

It is always advisable for you to confirm with your sail line and detect the packages offered by them. In reality the Caribbean stretches over an area of 2000 miles from Mexico in the northwest to the island of Barbados in the east. Thus it is obvious that almost all the cruise packages cover only part of the area. The Eastern Caribbean which covers the Smaller Antilles and Puerto Rico, the Southern Caribbean which covers the Dutch Antilles and the adjoining regions of South America, and the Western Caribbean which covers southeastern Mexico, Central America, and Jamaica are some of the usual cruise alternatives.

Needless to say each of the areas has its own attractions. The young travelers and the honeymooners like to visit the party environment of Jamaica, Cozumel or even Mexico. Those who want to relax in a calm atmosphere go in for Eastern Caribbean cruises. But do not forget to try the land expeditions because they would give you a memorable experience as well.

Once you arrive at your destination, settle for nothing less than a luxury Caribbean resort. Bask in the sun and enjoy your vacation in leisurely glory at Raffles Canouan Island Resort, while everything is provided for you.

Tortola, A Glorious Port-of-Call to Visit on a Cruise Ship

By Denise Stone

First, let me describe our entry into Roadtown. What a beautiful hour or so....the hour we spent coming into Roadtown. We came into Tortola late morning so the Holland America Westerdam passengers all got to enjoy the entry rather than sleeping through it like we often do when on a cruise ship. We passed through a narrow channel between St John, USVI and several small, lush green islands, Great Thatch and Little Thatch to name a couple...how beautiful! We were boarded by a local ship Captain, all while in motion. He then guided the ship past Roadtown so we could pivot into a channel deep enough for the ship to pass through. Again, we were struck by the beauty of our surroundings....many small lush islands all around us with a few sail boats thrown in for good measure. It didn't seem as though our large, 1800 passenger ship should be there. The cruise ship pier was completed in 1999. The pier at Wickham Cay is right in the city of Roadtown so you don't need a taxi to get to the shopping areas although they are readily available if you want to do some sightseeing on your own.

We had about an hour and a half before our eagerly awaited shore excursion....our snorkeling adventure to Norman Island. In that time, we disembarked and decided to walk into the town. Directly outside the entrance to the pier, there is a shopping area of tarp covered booths. We passed these and were happy to find the shop keepers to be pretty passive (unlike a few ports of call where the shop keepers aggressive style can be intimidating to many even though they are harmless). We went into the main part of town (Americans be careful crossing streets, they drive on the left side of the road here) and enjoyed a quick visit to the Sunny Caribbee Spice Shop Co & Art Gallery. Around the corner, not far from the ferry dock in the Craft Alive Market, we visited a neat little shop called The Coral Studio. They sell some lovely and affordable handcrafted coral carvings made from dead coral harvested from the local shores. This is where I found a gift for my mother-in-law who was so nice to take care of the kids while we were enjoying this cruise vacation! We would have to shop more later as it was time to head back to the pier to catch the open-air bus that would take us to the boat we were going to Norman Island on. On our way back to the pier, we noticed a couple local restaurants/bars right outside the port entrance. They were crowded with cruise passengers enjoying the front decks.

My husband and I had been eager to visit Tortola as we had planned to return to Norman Island where we snorkeled together about 16 years ago during a visit to St Thomas. When we last visited Norman Island, we had rented a small boat from the northeast shores of St Thomas. We spent a fantastic day chartering a course to Norman Island for our first ever snorkeling adventure. (We don't recommend this for new boaters like ourselves....we were young and adventurous, actually foolish. Stick with a group excursion with an experienced charter operator). Anyway, this was our first opportunity to return to Norman Island. We were a bit concerned it might not be as good as we remembered, especially since this time around we were booked with a group rather than visiting on our own. After a half hour boat ride past some other small islands, Peter Island and Pelican Island, we arrived at Norman Island, also known as "Treasure Island" as it was the model for Robert Louis Stevenson's epic novel, Treasure Island. This island is also well known for its pirate history. It is uninhabited at this time but after the pirates, cattle farmers tried to operate from here. They found it difficult to operate from the island and left it deserted many years ago. I can understand as there is not much flat land here. With its marine caves, it is very popular with snorkelers now. We found it to be as wonderful as we had remembered.....brightly colored fish, coral, cool caves to snorkel into and peace. There are no waves, there was one other boat when we arrived but we never felt crowded. What a treat. I can't wait to go back again one day! Maybe before I go back, I will take a scuba class ...although not really necessary as it is no more than 20 -30 feet deep around the base of the island and in most places, only 3-8 feet. It would be nice to study up a little on the marine life I saw so I can identify it by name. "Pretty" is the best word I have for everything now.

We were tired when we got back from our excursion but I managed to get a little more shopping in. Then, back to the ship for a warm shower, a little relaxation on our balcony and off to dinner for another delicious meal and inviting company. Guests we dined with that evening had visited The Baths on Virgin Gorda, the second most populous island of the BVIs. They said it was a gorgeous natural stretch of coastline with large boulders strewn about. The boulders are said to have come from a prehistoric volcano. They enjoyed a day of snorkeling and swimming in the pools and grottoes formed by the great rocks. Maybe we will have to visit there next time but it will be hard to decide between The Baths and anther visit to Norman Island. What a day!!!! If you are ready for a cruise to Tortola, there are many opportunities from Ft Lauderdale, Miami and Port Canaveral.

We will be happy to help you find your perfect cruise to this delightful port-of-call, just give us a call.

Fun Cruises - 8 Valid Reasons For You To Consider Cruising

By Abhishek Agarwal Platinum Quality Author

Any idea about what a cruise is? You may think that it may refer to a Hollywood actor named Tom Cruise, correct?

Well, you are very wrong. (Is this any game show?) But, cruise vacation is enhancing the popularity over families, groups and individuals who would want to relax in some way.

Do you really want to learn more about cruising? Read this article and learn what it's and why people prefer cruising on their holidays.

Cruise refers to voyages over few days or much more. It's done over ships, sails and those powerboats, which are ideal for trips continuously for 3-4 days.

But, if the cruise would last for one week or more, the travel would include various destinations over longer distances, strong-built and powerful cruise ships will be preferred.

History

Idea of cruising got started after a guy called Joshua Slocum, retired sea captain, who circumnavigated the globe from 1895 to 1898.

Although during those times, going trips around the world was merely impossible, He rebuilt his sloop which is 37-foot named it Spray and sailed it single-handedly around the globe.

Board one ship for VALUE

Some cruise packages are inclusive of all the things which you need on-board. The cabin where you would stay, the dining needs, and the entertainments on-board, and things which would make you feel like you're just on home-everything in the price of a single one.

Take one cruise for the sake of ROMANCE

If you're on cruise with your husband or wife, you may enjoy some secluded beaches on all stop over, dining over the balcony seeing clear water, and spa's for 2. You may also have one romantic date in a main dining area in evenings.

Take one cruise for CUISINES

Be ready for gaining seven pounds every week with some delicious delicacies to give on-board. Dishes would be served with various exotic elements and cooking styles.

There are good old side foods like pizzas and ice creams and the spa cuisines for some healthy alternatives. You may also dine some small bistros or some casual eateries.

Take some cruise for its VARIETY

Different options are there before you-150 ships, 1800 travel ports and wide array of places for visiting and stuff to do. See the ways from which you can generate one perfect cruise for yourself.

Choose a cruise for its ACTIVITIES

You might be dealing with some activities for keeping you occupied when you are over-board. There are sports and site seeing activities, some cultural presentations, tours which are led by selected educators and historians, or you might simply lie by the pool and start relaxing.

The show continues during night. You may enjoy a dance revolution, music presentations as those which you see in the Broadway, try the luck at some gaming stations, or spend the evening gazing the great wide sky in these ship's balcony.

Select a cruise for its SIMPLICITY

Unlike backpacking where you must have a travel map for locating hotels where you might possibly be or some restaurants where you might dine, all you require is one travel agent for handling all details.

When you are over-board, almost every expense of yours is already paid-you should enjoy having it.

Select a cruise for your FAMILY

It's a friendly- family vacation. Child-oriented activities would keep your kids busy and very happy while you're getting some nice time alone.

Select a cruise for your SATISFACTION

Regardless of budget, cruise lines should make all packages offering first-call service round the clock. Hence your satisfaction guaranteed very much indeed.

Take a cruise on the next vacation holiday.

Onboard the Holland America Westerdam - My Recent Cruise

By Denise Stone

My husband and I just cruised with Holland America on the Westerdam. First, let me tell you this ship is has been very popular with my clients, I am a travel agent that specializes in cruises. Last spring, I had a client that sailed in the Caribbean on the Westerdam. She loved it so much, she turned right around and booked it for an Alaskan cruise. She loved it just as much the second time. Now, me myself, I typically like to try a different ship each time I cruise. But I have to tell you, I would definitely cruise on the Westerdam again.

What a beautiful ship. The Holland America Westerdam is 4 years old but nearly spotless. Her decor is beautiful...I loved the crystal ship model rotating in the chandelier of the Atrium, right across from the Pinnacle Grill. Our room was a typical balcony stateroom but it was very well appointed compared to some of the other ships we have sailed on. There was plenty of storage space for all the clothes and gear we brought. We appreciated the full bathtub rather than just a shower! We also got a look at the suites onboard this ship. They were very nice. I loved the large seating areas, enormous bathrooms (for a cruise ship) with double sinks and the spacious balconies.

What did we enjoy onboard? Well, let me name a few things.....first and foremost we enjoyed the before/after dinner melodies of the string trio, the Moonlight Strings. They played, in the Explorer's Lounge, each evening from about 6:30-11:00. This trio from Hungary played classics, recent music and even a little Disney music when a child was in the lounge. The music was enjoyable and the lounge chairs were very cozy so we were never in a hurry to leave. It was a great place to relax with an after dinner drink. They were great!

We also really enjoyed the pool areas. The Lido pool has a wonderful sliding dome cover so regardless of the weather, it is good swimming/relaxing weather anytime. Also, the two pools onboard were larger than most we have seen on cruise ships.

We found ourselves in the Queen's Lounge and Culinary Arts Center frequently. The most enjoyable event here was the Culinary Art's event "Chef Andreas Turns Up the Heat". We had fun watching Chef Brad (the Pinnacle Grill Chef was called in when his boss got pulled into a meeting), cook a Mediterranean Chicken dinner & Austrian Apple Strudel. The setup was great.....the kitchen is setup like Emeril's and there are a couple large screens with live shots looking directly down at the counter and stove top so you have a good view of everything the chef is doing. Chef Brad was entertaining and in the end, he shared samples of the Strudel with everyone in the audience. We also got to bring home the recipe cards! I can't wait to try the Mediterranean Chicken dish although I am not so sure about trying to tackle the Strudel. That looks like a little more work than I am willing to do. Also in the Queen's Lounge, there were daily movies, all recent! One evening, we watched a very funny Westerdam Superstar contest of karaoke singers...some very bad an some surprisingly good. The room was packed, standing room only, and we laughed hysterically at times.

And the library....also very different than most of the other ships I have been on. The Exploration's Cafe is combined with the Crow's Nest Lounge forward on deck 10 of the Westerdam. This library was wonderful.....it was large, well organized and had a great selection. It also included the internet access area. The coffee bar was great and the views were wonderful! One morning, even though we had a great balcony to sit on back at our room, my husband and I sat in some very comfortable lounge chairs basking in the warm sun from the large windows, and relaxing with a good book. We really appreciated the down time.

Oh, and did I mention the Pinnacle Grill....scrumptious! The wait staff was attentive while not overbearing, the ambience was very nice.....be sure to ask for the corner table if you want the perfect romantic spot! The food......yum. I enjoyed a delicious fillet mignon and prawns. Dessert was to die for....chocolate souffle. I want this every night! Although there is a small surcharge for a meal here, I encourage everyone to try the Pinnacle Grill. Be sure to book quickly as the reservations fill up within the first day or two.

There were so many more things to do, I couldn't even get to everything but let me just mention a few more.....the Piano bar is rocking every night with lots of fun music and many happy guests! It tends to be standing room only later in the evening. Of course the Westerdam also has a beautiful spa featuring all the current health and relaxation opportunities available in the spas at home.....even a hydro therapy pool. And, if your husband feels like he is going to miss his sports, there is a nice sports bar near the casino. When we were onboard, the Phillies were playing the Rays in the first couple games of the World Series. In the Vista lounge, the shows were fun and what I enjoyed most was seeing one of my clients end up on the shoulders of a unicyclist. And I always thought the people that were pulled from the audience for things that dramatic were plants. Not this time! Now I know. Oh my goodness, just glad my husband didn't volunteer me!

Royal Caribbean ships are relaxed, elegant and upscale, and they have a broad appeal that attracts everyone from honeymooners to families to couples celebrating golden anniversaries. Royal Caribbean cruise line offers a broad range of shore excursions. First Time Cruise With Kids

By Monika Agic

Cruising industry has been on a steady rise in a recent decade. There are many cruising companies catering to all segments of our population from very wealthy to the average families. I have personally taken a cruise with kids, and once I did, I have realized why cruising with kids works.

Cruise prices can add up but many times 3rd and 4th guest in the same room is charged only half price of the original fare. The 3rd and 4th member of your family will be sleeping on a pull out bed in the ship cabin, and this increases children sense of adventure and fun. If you are on a budget, you may want to get an inside cabin that has no windows or portholes. The advertised fares usually represent the inside cabin charges and upgrades to the cabin types are extra. In my personal opinion the inside room is sufficient and comfortable enough.

What to expect?

When you come on board you'll be greeted by the vessel staff and shown the way to your cabin. Cabins on most ships are pretty small, so pack lightly. Soon after you settle in your room, you will hear an announcement to report to a certain location and go through the safety drill. This is a little nuisance of cruising but very important. You will learn where to find your life west, and where to report in an event of evacuation. This drill is not only important for everyone safety but also educational for children. Soon thereafter the vessel will leave the port and kick off the sailing with music and drinks. Everyone is in a good mood because, well, the cruise has just started.

The meals on the cruise are all inclusive. You and your children will have access to buffets with variety of foods and this is especially important for those picky eaters that only eat macaroni and pizza. The buffet contains different cuisines, drinks and desserts. It is a real bonanza and feast for both your stomachs and eyes. In addition if you have a male teenager like I do, you will probably save money because those kids can eat a ton. I am under the consistent impression that the cruise company actually loses money on my teenager because of all the food he eats. Some cruise lines have a relaxed attitude toward dining which means that you go and eat whenever you feel like it. Others do have formal dining dinners where you are actually scheduled to arrive at the certain time. The formal dining will include the appetizers, main dish, drinks, coffee, tea and desserts. Dinner is the best and most expensive meal you will eat, so you may want to save some space during the day. My tactic was to eat less during the day in anticipation of a fancy dinner.

Dressing code is casual for the most part, and shorts and T-shirt will work. Some cruise lines have formal nights that require formal attire: suits and ties, elegant dresses. The dress code also applies to children so make sure they have the clothes required to go to dinners during those formal nights. If you or your children don't meet the minimum formal nights requirements, you'll have to eat your dinner at a buffet instead in the main dinner hall. Please check with the cruise line regarding the dress code before you go.

The ships have tons of amenities. My favorite pastime on cruises is just lounging by the pool and staring at the great big ocean around. Yet, for those who like being entertained there is live music, ping-pong tournaments, culinary demonstrations, theatrical performances etc. The top decks of the ship usually have a sports court, swimming pools and other amenities your children will enjoy. If you like to enjoy spa services, they also provide daycare services.

One thing I feared the most by embarking on the first trip was that I will be just eating and getting fat. Yet, the cruising is not only about eating, although it is an impressive and important part of the experience. The ships have fitness facilities and promenade decks where you can take your morning runs or casual afternoon strolls looking at the sunset. The other concern I had was that kids can fall off the vessel and although there are few spots where the only barrier to the ocean are horizontal rails, it is really not as scary as I initially thought. The risk of your children falling off is minimal.

Most cruises go from port to port where you can disembark from the vessel and explore the location. If you don't feel doing this on your own, the cruise line organizes excursions to suit your tastes. Those excursions can look expensive but we have done exploring on our own, as well as using organized excursions and there is not much difference in prices. The benefit of going on an organized excursion is a peace of mind and security that you will not miss the ship as it will wait for all excursions to come back before leaving. When you go somewhere on your own and don't return on time, your options are to either swim or pay airfare to the next port of call : neither an attractive option.

If you like venturing on your own you may be able to squeeze more hours of enjoyment in a particular location as organized excursions are more time-limited.

The biggest benefit of cruising with kids is the fact that the whole family is entertained, well fed and kept satisfied. Although vessels are very big, your kids will never be very far away. This time presents great opportunity to bond with your kids and to really see them. The cruise companies are doing a great job to beat costs of a land vacation and give you memories of the lifetime.

5 Ideas For Cheap Cruise Travel Deals

By CJ Anderson

Everyone wants to travel the world, right? How does a luxury cruise sound? Warm beaches, exotic ports of call, fine dining, 5 star service, hammocks and fruity umbrella drinks. Who could resist?

Course there is one small issue - the outrageous prices that put the dream of a cruise vacation out of reach for 90% of people. But there is hope. I am here to help you find the absolute best cruise travel deals. Wholesale prices, incentive cruises, and even the occasional F.R.E.E voyage are in the bag of tricks. My goal is to show you how to plan, find, book, and enjoy the cruise vacation of a lifetime on a shoestring budget whether it is your first cruise or your tenth.

Be sure to check out this month's top hints, insider secrets, and tricks the travel industry does not want you to know about how to get a fantastic cruise travel deal.

Here are 5 ideas to get you started on finding the cheapest cruise bargains:

1) Go Off-Season

Everyone and their brother is planning a cruise in the spring or early summer. Think spring break and that's where you will find the crowds. The cruise industry is not going to offer any good cruise travel deals during their busy season because they simply don't have to. Expect a 20-30% cheaper fare for off-season cruises.

BONUS: Airfares will also be cheaper during the less-traveled months saving you an additional chunk of money.

2) Consider Repositioning

These cruises are heavily discounted because the cruise line is simply moving the boat from one home port to another. They have to take that trip regardless of how many passengers sign up. You will get a few less ports - but if you are true cruise lover, the extra days at sea will be no great burden. You can expect to save 40-60% on a price per day basis over regular cruises.

3) Skip the Flight

Most cruises in the US originate from Florida and California, but did you know that dozens of other ports of embarkation (where you leave from) are available? Unexpected places like New Orleans, Houston, Seattle, New Jersey, and even Mobile, AL offer a few cruise itineraries a year. If you can hitch a ride from somewhere within easy driving distance, how much will you save? Anticipate travel to and from the embarkation port costs to drop easily $1000 for a family of 4.

BONUS: Also, you will not have to worry about hotel on either side of the cruise in this scenario.

4) Last Minute Savings

Often if your schedule is flexible, good cruise travel deals can be had in the last 2 months leading up to departure. Think about it - the boat is going, overhead is relatively fixed, so empty staterooms cost the cruise lines big bucks that can never be recovered. Sign up for email newsletters (cheapcruises.com, vacationstogo.com, and travelzoo.com are my favorites) so you will get priority notification of cruise travel deals.

5) Speak and Cruise

If you've ever been on a cruise, you know there is a an endless array of entertainment and educational opportunities on board. Everything from underwater basket weaving, to painting classes, to seminars on wine tasting. Did you know that each of those presenters AND their family get a complimentary cruise in exchange for a couple of 1 hour work sessions? Would you work for 2 hours to get a free cruise?

Ten Things Not to Forget on Your Next Caribbean Cruise

By Rich Johnson

Here are a few items to pack before heading on your next cruise to the Caribbean, Bermuda, the Bahamas, or Mexico.

* 1. Ambient Noise Maker It's possible that the guests next door may keep you up longer than you would like to stay up. Kids running up and down the halls or neighbors that have had one too many to drink, can disturb your sleep. An ambient noise maker can help drown out the background noise and give you a better night's sleep.

* 2. Snorkel If you are taking a cruise to tropical waters, there is a good chance that snorkeling is on your itinerary. Snorkeling tours usually have swim fins, swim mask, and a snorkel included free of charge on your excursion. You need to think though - how many mouths have been on that snorkel?

* 3. Camera Cruise lines have many photographers that capture great pictures while you are on your cruise. The problem is that they don't usually go on excursions with you. I would recommend a decent, but not too big or expensive of a camera to take with you. A big camera can get too heavy and an expensive one may make you a target of crime.

* 4. Sea Sick Medicine You never know when the rolling seas will make your stomach sick. There are patches and other medications to help ease sea sickness.

* 5. Diarrhea Medicine Yuck. From a bad drink of water on a tropical island to too many preservatives in some cruise ship foods, these problems can lead to a spoiled vacation.

* 6. Cell Phone On some islands you may actually be able to call home without having to pay for higher fees from the ship or 'calling shops" on land.

* 7. Plastic Bag A plastic bag comes in handy for keeping money, passports, or other important documents dry. Rain showers or ocean spray while on excursions can damage these items.

* 8. Back Pack Great for carrying your camera, snacks, water, sunscreen, or other items while on an excursion.

* 9. Comfortable Shoes Sandals can rub blisters on your feet. A good, comfortable pair of shoes are especially important on excursions where a lot of walking is called for.

* 10. Hat A baseball cap or another type of hat is a good way of keeping your head from getting sunburned. It doesn't take long in the tropics to get sunburned with the high sun angle.

Bahamas Cruise Tips - What You Need to Know

Bahamas Cruise Tips - What You Need to Know
By Fred Coolridge

Thousands of people take cruises in the Bahamas every year for various reasons. Without a doubt, two of the main reasons have to do with the spectacular weather and the beautiful beaches. While some people go to relax, others book a cruise to meet new people and have fun. Whatever your motivation is for taking a vacation from the routine of everyday life, the Bahamas is a great place to visit. Here are some Bahamas cruise tips that will inform you on what ship, time of year, and events are best for you.

Bahamas Cruise Tips: Which one is my dream boat?

Carnival Cruise Line and Disney Cruise Line offer fun-filled and family oriented vacations. With supervised activities available for children, parents can enjoy the getaways as much as the kids! In most cases, the ships are huge and guests can choose from a wide range of entertainment and dining options.

Those looking for a luxurious experience should check out the high-end Celebrity Cruise Line Guests are invited to view original works of art (often available for purchase), enjoy fine dining and vintage wines, and be pampered from head-to-toe in their world-famous spas.

For a more intimate setting, Windstar Cruises promote smaller-scale tours for adults only. Their ships accommodate only a few hundred people, giving them a private yacht ambiance. Guests often appreciate the cruise's intention for less entertainment and more peace and quiet. An added bonus is being able to dock in much smaller ports than larger ships.

There are many other choices of cruise lines, some of which cater to vacationers with specific interests. Some focus on spring break, some provide an open bar, some boast an exciting casino, and others are Italian-themed. The great selection of tours is part of what makes Bahamas cruises so popular.

When is the best time to go?

Important Bahamas cruise tips include knowing when to travel to this tropical paradise. With regards to weather, tourists should be aware that hurricane season in the Caribbean is between June 1st and November 30th. However, many still take Caribbean cruises during that period of the year even though they are at higher risk of encountering bad weather.

Holidays and Cultural Events

Participating in the multiple events celebrated in the Bahamas can make your trip much more memorable! Of course, Christmas Holidays and New Year's Eve/Day are great times to visit, but there are many other cultural events that are exciting and worthwhile.

Emancipation Day on August 1st celebrates the freeing of slaves in the British Empire. The first day includes a fun-filled footrace. The world-famous Bahamas Junkanoo Festival is held the following day in Fox Hill Village, near Nassau. Here tourists are invited to enjoy an outstanding feast of locally-prepared foods, while musicians compete against one another. Another Bahamas-specific event is July 10th - Independence Day. Beach parties are in full swing and fireworks are displayed all over the Bahamas, the largest celebration being on Paradise Island and in Nassau.

Things to do

In the water

The natural beauty of the Caribbean islands is breathtaking and some activities allow guests a closer look. Scuba diving is a popular attraction in the Bahamas; Andros Island is said to be the best place to dive and explore.

Another exciting underwater excursion is Hartley's Undersea Walk. Air is pumped into lead masks that bring guests to the ocean floor, allowing them to interact with marine life.

Swimming with the dolphins has become an extremely popular activity that takes place on Blue Lagoon Island. Participants can feed and pet the dolphins; however, visitors should book early. Also located on Blue Lagoon Island is Stingray City where tourists can actually swim with these friendly fish. In all the underwater activities, natural coral and colorful fish abound, so do not forget your waterproof camera!

On land

For those who prefer to be on foot, the Versailles Gardens are spectacular! Even though they are located on hotel grounds, they are open to all, free of charge. In addition to exotic tropical flora, the gardens feature French statues and art work.

Golf-enthusiasts can enjoy some of the world's most beautiful courses on Grand Bahama Island and Paradise Island, while those looking for a taste of culture and history can visit the Queens Staircase. This is a walking tour of Nassau, featuring a 102 feet high staircase built by slaves in 1793. Interesting sites are plentiful!

Whatever ship you choose to set sail on, your destination should be the Bahamas - a great spot to relax and have fun!

Western Caribbean Cruise

By Clint Leung Platinum Quality Author

We were on the Radiance of the Seas for the western Caribbean cruise on November 28/04. This was our second cruise with Royal Caribbean with our first last year on the larger Adventure of the Seas. After one cruise with RCI, I expected roughly the same standards with the Radiance and in general, I wasn't disappointed.

Staterooms:

Our stateroom was an inside aft cabin and we were not disappointed. It was roomy enough and the lighting was adequate. Closet space and drawers were also sufficient for our use. We noticed that the double beds here were actually a bit better than the one we had on the Adventure since we couldn't really feel the split between the two separate beds like we did last time. If there's one thing that can be improved is the shower curtain. The one installed was not adequate in keeping in all the water from the shower. The shower on the Adventure utilized a double glass door system which was far superior. Otherwise, the cabin was nice and dark for sleeping at night. Although we heard a little noise from the cabins next to us, it was minimal. We didn't miss having any window or balcony at all since we were hardly ever in our stateroom. We were either at port or elsewhere on the ship and went back to our cabins just to relax or sleep. We would definitely book an inside cabin again with RCI unless we had a free upgrade.

Dining:

The main Cascades dining room was nice and meals were good. Breakfasts had the same menu every morning. Lunch at the dining room was okay. The dinners were good but not every meal item was a winner. There was the odd appetizer and dessert that was not up to par. One thing that my partner noticed was that the portions of the main courses seemed to be smaller than those served on the Adventure. We usually went upstairs to the Windjammer to get more food after dining at the Cascades. In some parts of the Cascades room, the tables were placed too cramp so walking to out own table was tricky at times. The self serve Windjammer was good. It usually had more variety of food than served downstairs at the Cascades. Breakfast and lunch were busy at the Windjammer but during evenings, most people chose to dine at the Cascades. The two other optional restaurants onboard Portafino and Choppe House were available at $20 US per person but we never tried them since the meals already included at the Cascades and Windjammer were fine by us. Other passengers who did go to these optional rooms told us that they were nothing special. There was another cafe available during late evenings called the Seaview and they provided fare such as sandwiches, salads and burgers. This was a nice feature. One thing we did object to was that they charged for the coffee and tea there. There was also a specialty coffee place on the main centrum of the ship and they also charged. We had more availability of free beverages on the Adventure.

Service:

The service by the stateroom attendants and dining room staff was top notch as expected.

Entertainment:

The evening shows at the Aurora Theatre were a mix of the ship's own crew of dancers and singers plus some outside comics and singers. In general, the shows were quite good. We would have liked them to mix up the entertainment each night rather than allocate music, comedy and magic into different evenings. Rather than an entire show of magic, we would have preferred each night featuring a variety of entertainment. Live music around the ship was a nice added touch.

Amenities:

Although smaller than the Adventure, the Radiance had fine amenities including the gym/spa, mini golf, pools and the shops. There was internet access but at 50 cents per minute, the service is a bit steep. There were things to do during the days at sea such as art auctions, cooking demos and dance classes. However, we felt that there was more offered on the Adventure. As for embarking and disembarking, there was no problem on the Radiance. The 6th level contained the casino and for non-smokers, this was a problem. The ventilation in the casino was not great and as a result, cigarette smoke travelled to adjacent areas near the casino. My partner wanted to avoid going on the 6th level whenever possible.

In summary, we enjoyed our cruise on the Radiance of the Seas. However, comparing it to the larger Adventure of the Seas, we would rate the larger ship a bit higher. We liked the huge promenade on the Adventure which was not available on a smaller ship like the Radiance. Given a choice in the future, we would opt for the larger ship. For first time cruisers, the Radiance would still be a good ship to vacation on. This is simply the case of where veteran cruisers would expect more especially if they have been on higher end ships.

The world is blessed with wonderful beautiful sandy tropical beaches. These golden sun drenched beaches are just waiting for us to come and enjoy. Travel in relaxing and luxurious comfort across the sparkling turquoise water from one destination to another by magnificent cruise ships and then enjoy yet another tropical paradise and the marvelous beaches waiting there! You'll want to check out some of the beaches listed below!

Best Sand Beach! Pink Sands, Harbour Island, Bahamas

Harbour Island is only half a mile wide and three miles long yet has some of the nicest sand beaches with an unbelievable laid back atmosphere. The island has less than 2,000 locals and only a few tourists making it a special choice for a relaxing getaway. This tiny island was once the home of the capital city of the Bahamas, Dunmore Town. Enjoy the Georgian Architecture, stroll through the tiny shops on quaint streets. And of course, lap up the sun on the beautiful pink sand beaches!

Most Romantic Beach! Matira Beach, Bora Bora, Tahiti

Just 18 miles long, Bora Bora is an enchanted tropical island in the French Polynesian chain. Nick-named the Romantic Island, Bora Bora lies in a secluded lagoon and boasts many secluded white sandy beaches. Intimate hotels and the quiet, relaxed South Seas atmosphere add to the feeling of romance. The secluded Matira Beach offers visitors all of that romantic atmosphere with bright turquoise water and brilliant South Seas sunsets!

Best Beach in America! Hanauma Bay, Oahu, Hawaii

In May of 2004, Dr. Stephen Leatherman, a respected environmental scientist, named Hanauma Bay America's best beach. About 10 miles east of Waikiki, one will find the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve. Nearly three thousand people visit the area every day to enjoy swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling and picnics. The bay itself is believed to be a 35,000 year old volcanic crater floor. Swimmers and snorkellers take special pleasure from the sheltered bay and are often greeted by a host of tropical reef fish.

Best Family Beach! Palm Beach, Aruba

Cond Nast Traveler have named this gorgeous white sand beach as one of the 12 best beaches in the world. And unlike many of the Caribbean islands, this Aruba and her beaches are geared up for the entertainment of families and kids. At Kibama Miniature Village and Park, kids can explore mini Aruban-style buildings. Adventure Golf in Aruba is billed as the world's largest mini-golf course. Swimmers, sailors, fishermen … and kids will all find Palm Beach, Aruba as an idyllic family vacation retreat!

Best Kept Secret Beach! Fernando de Noronha, Brazil

Very few have had the opportunity to enjoy the unspoiled, breathtaking beaches of Fernando de Noronha. Only a mere 420 visitors are allowed on the island - off the northeast coast of Brazil - at any time. In 1988, the island was declared a marine national park. Being part of a volcanic archipelago, the island treats visitors to towering rock "sculptures", pristine waterfalls with natural swimming pools and of course the exquisite white beaches tucked below jagged cliffs and caves.

Best Ancient Beaches! Tulum, Mexico

Dating from as early as 250 A.D., ancient Mayan ruins tower over the beaches. Swimmers and sunbathers can't help but be swept up in the aura of ancient mystery when they look up from the beach. White sand beaches and crystal blue waters greet visitors to the water paradise!

These are but a miniscule sampling of the wonderful and beautiful tropical beaches awaiting vacationers. To enjoy a number of exotic tropical beaches in one vacation, check out various cruise itineraries. Caribbean Cruise - Expert Guide

By John Metcalfe Platinum Quality Author

Comprising of around 50 islands (750 if you count the archipelago of the Bahamas), the Caribbean is a realtreasure trove when it comes to cruising. A rich
variety of vistas, people and places await, along with swaying palms and idyllic beaches of golden sand. The network of islands in the Caribbean is in fact so extensive that it is possible to book several Caribbean cruises and avoid going to the same islands twice!

There are four basic Caribbean cruise routes used by cruise operators:

Western Caribbean Cruise Route - Departing from seaports in Texas, Louisiana and Florida, the Western Route takes in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, the island of Cozumel, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, and any number of islands off the coasts of Honduras and Belize.

Eastern Caribbean Cruise Route - One of the most popular Caribbean cruise routes, the Eastern Route typically departs from Florida and other seaports along the eastern seaboard of the United States. The route calls on destinations such as Key West, The Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands the Virgin Islands (including St. Thomas and St. Croix), and Puerto Rico.

Southern Caribbean Cruise Route - This route normally commences at San Juan in Puerto Rico, and takes in many possible destinations along the Lesser Antilles and the Netherlands Antilles as far west as Aruba.

Exotic/Long-duration Caribbean Cruise Route - This route takes in any/all of the above destinations, and can sometimes end in a different place to where the cruise started.

Given this broad assortment of destinations available in the Caribbean, it can be a bit overwhelming whentrying to make that crucial decision on which islands to fit into your itinerary. After all, you don't want to miss out on some true Caribbean gems, do you? So,

whether you're planning a short vacation or a longer cruise break away from home, here is a selection of 'must-sees' & 'must-dos' on your Caribbean adventure.

St Croix (Virgin Islands) - Take a night kayak trip in Salt River National Park and visit the first
landing site of Christopher Columbus on his voyage to the New World.

Grenada - Although ravaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, Grenada is still well worth a visit for its scuba diving. You can explore the largest shipwreck in the Caribbean here and see an underwater volcano.

St. Thomas (Virgin Islands) - The Cinnamon Bay National Park offers excellent snorkeling
opportunities. You can see a wealth of underwater life in the shallow waters around St. Thomas.

Jamaica - Why not try your hand at bamboo rafting in Montego Bay?

Puerto Rico - No Caribbean cruise would be complete without a visit to the world famous Condado Beach on the island of Puerto Rico.

Aruba - Want to find Caribbean paradise? How about relaxing on one of the 365 beaches that surround the Dutch island of Aruba.

St Kitts - Swim with the turtles in the waters around St Kitts and then relax on the pink sand beaches on this beautiful island.

Good luck with planning your trip and happy cruising.

Bahamas Cruise - Expert Guide

By John Metcalfe Platinum Quality Author

The Bahamas is arguably the most popular cruise destination for U.S. travelers, and is especially popular with first-time cruisers from the U.S. Only 75kms from mainland USA, the outer islands that make up the group can be reached within a matter of hours. This makes the Bahamas an excellent choice of location for a short Bahamas cruise break of two, three or four nights away from home.

Some 700 islands make up the archipelago of the Bahamas, of which only around 50 are inhabited. Cruise lines generally focus on just two Bahaman ports - Nassau and Freeport.

Nassau is Bahamas' capital, and is located on the island of New Providence. It is a beautiful compact city that is easy to explore inside a day's shore excursion. The city's charm is in its architecture - and of course its people. Late 18th century and early 19th century colonial buildings stand as reminders of Bahamas' British past. Parliament Square in downtown
Nassau offers a unique perspective on the city's architecture, watched over, as always, by a grandiose marble statue of Queen Victoria.

But Nassau is not just about history. It has a vibrant modern side too. Quality shops, fine restaurants and golden beaches, up onto which the inviting warm transparent waters of the Caribbean lap, are all there to be sampled. Activities such as snorkeling, diving and passenger submarine rides make for an exciting time in this tropical paradise. The nightlife in Nassau is buzzing too, with casinos and nightclubs offering the best of Bahamian life.

A Bahamas cruise to Freeport on the island of Grand Bahama offers tropical paradise that is very close to home. Easily accessible on a two-night Bahamas cruise, Freeport is a city that welcomes cruisers and tourists with open arms. Duty-free shopping is one of the biggest draws of Freeport, and the city itself features a 10-acre international bazaar - a real shopping paradise in the tropics!

The nightlife in Freeport is world-renowned. Casinos, nightclubs and live entertainment in Freeport are amongst the best in the Caribbean, and make for a great night out when you're on a Bahamas cruise.

For travelers looking for a Bahamas cruise of a longer duration than four nights, some cruise lines offer special extended cruises, several of which incorporate a port call at a private island owned by the cruise company.

Bahamas cruises generally depart from ports in Florida. Port Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale and Miami port are the big three which offer cruises to the Bahamas. So, if you're looking to take a short romantic break, or just fancy a change of scenery for the weekend, why not get yourself down to Florida and book a Bahamas cruise. Bahamas cruises are reasonably priced, and I guarantee you that the experience will be one that lives long in the memory.

Selecting the Perfect Southern Caribbean Cruise Destination

By Ann Richter

Cruising to the southern Caribbean offers many exotic and wonderful destinations that its visitors are almost spoilt for choice. Choosing the best place for the perfect vacation experience is difficult but there is one absolutely sublime destination, Oranjestad in Aruba, is idyllic and a perfect spot to visit on a southern Caribbean cruise.

Oranjestad, the capital city of Aruba can be found on the beautiful coastal region of the southern Caribbean. From first impressions you will notice that Oranjestad is uniquely different from other southern Caribbean destinations in style of architecture which is attributed to its Dutch origins, unlike other areas of the western Caribbean which are more Spanish in influence. What you can expect to see in Oranjestad are buildings built in the traditional Dutch style being tall and of different colors. Another typical sight synonymous with Dutch landscapes is the present of windmills which are a common feature to this delightful location. Alongside Dutch carved wood structures and historical buildings you can enjoy the physical geography and beauty of the island which is naturally Caribbean. The scenic beauty of this island combined with its historic roots is further complemented by the availability of many water sports, including snorkeling and scuba diving. Oranjestad also offers a variety of stunningly beautiful beaches on which to relax. By night, the city is alive with fabulous restaurants, bars and attractions for visitors to enjoy.

Apart from the scenic beauty, water sports and nightly attractions there is a wonderful open air market where you can find an abundance of local produce and crafts, and for wine connoisseurs there is an excellent selection of wine and liquors. For those who wish to take home some of the flavor of the island you can find many items to remind you of your fabulous vacation.

For those who love tropical islands with deserted beaches and amazing marine life the De Pal Island is the place for you. From Aruba you can take excursions to this private island where you will be offered lunch on the beach cooked over a barbecue and then spend the day snorkeling and swimming in the crystal clear water where a fantastic variety of coral and fish can be viewed.

Another reason why Aruba is so popular is because you can shop for items that would normally cost anywhere up to fifty percent more either in Europe or the USA. For those who absolutely can't resist a bargain shopping in Aruba is a must.

Cost Maya - The Ultimate Western Caribbean Cruise

By Ann Richter Platinum Quality Author

A cruise to the Western Caribbean may be something you are considering in the future and you may be especially interested in visiting Mexico. If this appeals to you one of the best resorts to experience is Costa Maya which is a very popular destination and is highly recommended. If you are undecided or unsure of which area of the western Caribbean is best, you can be sure that Costa Maya is the ideal choice.

There are many reasons why Costa Maya is more desirable than other destinations. First of all Costa Maya is an island that has been custom built entirely to fill the needs and expectations of visitors and tourists and as such has resulted in the ultimate location, boasting a variety of wonderful restaurants, bars retail outlets and pools. Obviously this area of the western Caribbean is steeped in history but being purpose built has all the modern amenities of the 21st century. In short, Cost Maya is a luxury playground for adults. You can expect a dazzling array of entertainment, including a crocodile pit, to keep you amused and happy throughout your stay.

There has been a commitment from the creators of Costa Maya to create a dazzling but safe environment for its tourists and have created a water sanitation plant which enables tourists to drink the water without the fear of becoming ill, which is usually an issue for those who have travelled to Mexico.

In addition to the fantastic entertainment and amenities, Costa Maya is home to a site of ancient antiquity called Chacchoben. The history of Chaccoben dates back to 350 A.D. and belonged to the ancient Mayan civilization. The mixture of the old and the new is why Costa Maya, as part of the western Caribbean, is the ultimate resort.

The coastal village of Majahual is also part of Costa Maya and is a beautiful fishing village where you can sample the delights of fresh ceviche and laze on the stunning white sandy beaches for the ultimate relaxation. It is unsurprising that Majahual is so popular with locals and tourists alike.

Without doubt Costa Maya is an experience you should not miss as it has everything the tourists craves for the perfect vacation. A mixture of 21st century luxury and ancient history creates the ultimate western Caribbean destination.

Do you want to experience a completely different type of vacation? Good news, you can enjoy a beautiful Caribbean cruise even during the dead of winter. To get the most enjoyment from your Caribbean cruise be sure to follow this Caribbean cruise guide.

St Thomas USVI

By Rebecca Robbins Platinum Quality Author

One of the most popular and more trafficked ports of call for cruise ships is St. Thomas U.S.V.I. Known for having "Something for everyone", St. Thomas also serves as a port of call to many ships sailing the southern Caribbean, South America and the Panama Canal.

Upon your arrival to this wonderful island you will more than likely be docked at Havensight or Crown Bay, the two primary docks for cruise ships. Havensight dock is well equipped with AtM's, a post office, public phones, and the only book store on the island, a wine shop and more than 50 stores for your shopping pleasure. Across from the Havensight dock you will find coffee shops and internet café's and more stores for shopping. Charlotte Amalie is an easy walk from the docks for even more duty free shopping. St. Thomas is not the bargain paradise it used to be. So do some comparisons shopping before you buy. The one good thing is that St. Thomas is an American port and the duty free allowance is now $1,600.00, and that's twice the amount allowed for Europe. There are however many great bargains still to be found.

Take note that if your ships docks on a Sunday, many of the stores and shops of Charlotte Amalie are only open from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. and many of the attractions observe the same hours and only a few restaurants are open for lunch. If however you are fortunate enough to have a day to spend on this beautiful island, try spending it exploring the historic districts or dining at one of the extraordinary restaurants located in Frenchtown. A day of golf or a day trip over to St. John's or even just a lazy day on the beach is pleasant and enjoying on this island.

When getting around in St. Thomas, remember that individual cabs are a rarity, cabs are usually safari trucks or vans and charge a flat fee if they are headed "your way". Beware also of adventuring off the beaten paths often taken by tourist who choose to explore on their own, crime is becoming an issue everywhere. If you do wish to explore on your own, rent a car, and know that cell phone usage while driving is illegal, and whatever you do, when you drive!! Drive on the Left.

First Time Cruise - Caribbean Cruises Considered

By Lance Winslow Platinum Quality Author

There are significant choices for Caribbean Cruises and some of the mega ships are truly incredible, entire cities afloat, with everything you could ever want or think of. 5-Star service, recreation, gyms, pools, massage, games, sunbathing, top restaurants, and well you name it. Plus, just take a look at some of the wonderful destinations on some of the cruise choices, it's enough to make your head spin. Sometimes it is so strenuous to go through all the choices that by the time you are done, well, you'll need a cruise.

The Caribbean is considered one of the best places to take a cruise and the islanders love the tourist trade which thrives on shoppers and travelers. Worried about getting sea-sick? Don't because these ships are so enormous that you feel like you are in a giant building, after all it is literally a city afloat. The most awesome thing about these cruises is the costs are so low, in fact, it is almost cheaper to go on a perpetual cruise than to live anywhere, especially if you shop for the best deals, that include the most features.

If you are going on your first excursion and get-away and you are not sure where to go, I would like to recommend that you try a Caribbean Cruise from one of the larger cruise lines and pick one with the best cruise reviews online from former cruise customers, then consider how much you can budget for your first time cruise, sign-up, show up and enjoy the spectacular beauty known only to the Caribbean!

When deciding on what type of cruise you want to take first you can decide on the length of your cruise. Cheap San Juan Island Cruise

By Candis Reade Platinum Quality Author

San Juan offers one of the most beautiful and most affordable places to take a cruise. It serves as an anchor on many Southern Caribbean cruise itineraries in addition to a turnaround port for many ships. In fact, just about all regular cruise-goers will wind up, at some point or another, in beautiful, tropical San Juan.

San Juan serves as the urban hub of Puerto Rico. Being part of a U.S. territory, Americans should feel very comfortable there and enjoy the comfort of American culture. San Juan is famous for Senor Frogs, a bar with an unmistakably American feel. Visitors will also never find themselves wanting for a McDonald's Big Mac. But don't be mistaken - San Juan offers tastes of many other cultures as well, including Spanish, Italian and South American. A cruise to San Juan is the cheapest way to experience many cultures of the world!

The old city area, referred to as Old San Juan, for most travelers is the most exciting part of cruising to San Juan. Most large cruise ships dock right in the heart of Old San Juan, dropping off their passengers into a world that dates back to the 16th century. The whole city, including the towering walls surrounding it, has been exquisitely preserved. Visitors can meander down the original cobblestone streets to explore old forts, cobblestone, antique shops and art galleries where local artists display their work. Although the cruise to San Juan may be cheap, you'll definitely spend some money shopping once you arrive there!

One of the first stops for many cruisers who get the chance to disembark in San Juan is the El Morro fort, which dates all the way back to 1539. Another popular tourist stop is La Fortaleza, which takes the cake as the oldest governor's mansion on U.S. soil. Nearby is the Cathedral of San Juan, where visitors can pay there respects at the grave of the island's first governor, Ponce de Leon. Shopping addicts have many options - dozens of shops and boutiques line Calle del Cristo, Calle San Jose and Calle Fortaleza. Are lovers should definitely not skip the Calle del Cristo, where art galleries, private artisan studios and boutiques full of handmade gifts dominate.

San Juan, Puerto Rico is a very popular, affordable cruise destination, and almost every cruise line offers an affordable package that includes a stop in the beautiful city. The Royal Caribbean, Princess and Carnival cruise lines all offer cheap cruises with stays in San Juan anywhere from four to fourteen days long. If you're considering a cruise with your family, it's a good idea to chose one that includes a day in San Juan, because it really has something for everyone; beautiful, sandy beaches nearby for those who like to relax, hundreds upscale stores and local boutiques for those who like to shop, and dozens of historical sites to visit for those who like to explore.

Enjoy Cheap Cruises

Many cruise companies offer cheap cruises and reduce the prices for late bookings, cabin only deals and cruises with a short duration.

Cheap cruises on offer include 'week-end get aways' which hop across the English Channel departing from Dover and arriving in Antwerp overnight. The vessel has all the basic necessities, such as restaurants and bars, a gym, library and shops to browse, making these cruise deals a great mini break, with time to unwind and relax without breaking the bank.

Cruises across the North Sea departing from Leith, sailing through the night and arriving in Lerwick in time for morning coffee, the rest of the day can be spent discovering this beautiful area of Scotland before re-boarding the ship to sail during the night arriving in the breathtaking Western Fjords and the delightful city of Bergen. The itinerary includes plenty of personal time throughout the day and evening to explore the city and the surrounding scenic Fjord area. The ship leaves the port of Bergen in the late evening to begin the return sailing. The last day is spent at sea enjoying the amenities of the vessel and relaxing. Meals are offered in two different restaurants, the evening can be spent enjoying drinks with new found friends or in the casino.

This type of cheap cruise makes the cruising experience very affordable and are an excellent way to see whether 'life at sea' is agreeable before embarking on a future longer duration cruise, although it should be noted that with some cheap deals not all of the usual cruise facilities are available. The vessels are up to date and modern, with spacious relaxation areas. As the sailing is predominately through the night, evening entertainment is not always available, which is ideal for those who prefer a more sedate, personal cruise experience. Cabin only cruises are ideal those who prefer to make their own arrangements for dining and making their own entertainment.

Royal Caribbean cruises offer a great deal on 4 night short break cruises. Boarding the vessel in the port of Stockholm the itinerary begins with a day cruising the Fjords and taking in the breath taking scenery while becoming accustomed to the layout of the ship. The ship arrives at Visby, Sweden and remains in the port for a day, giving plenty of personal time to discover the local and surrounding area, before departing and sailing to Norway. Passengers find their own way to and from the departure and arrival ports, usually cheap flights are available from UK airports. Royal Caribbean's cruise ship 'The Vision of the Sea' is ideal for this mini cruise and boasts numerous windows which allow the spectacular Fjords to be seen throughout the sailing. This cruise ship has many luxury facilities including six whirlpools, eight bars and lounges, a health spa and different sports options. Different deck and cabin choices, including staterooms and suites which include separate living areas, balconies and mini bar, the Royal Family suite also includes two bathrooms, are all available within the special deal price making this luxury cruise excellent value for money.
